
Pastor Johnn Barry Dagenhart was born in Statesville, North Carolina and is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where he majored in Economics and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1979. After a brief period of time in management with Travelers insurance, Barry entered Erskine Theological Seminary and began work on a Master of Divinity degree, graduating with honors in May of 1982. While at Erskine, he met Sarah Lynn Richie of Fairfield, Virginia and they were married June 26, 1982. Upon graduation from Seminary, he received a call from the First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Rock Hill, South Carolina as Associate Minister. First Presbytery conducted his service of ordination in his home church of New Sterling on May, 1982. Barry began work at First A.R.P. in July of that year, and remained in the position of Associate Pastor through June of 1986. In May of 1986, Barry received a call from the Linden Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Gastonia, North Carolina as Minister. While at the Linden Church, Barry began work on the Doctor of Ministry degree from Erskine Theological Seminary in 1990, graduating in 1993. In February of 1994, he received a call to be Minister at Doraville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Atlanta. Dr. Dagenhart served as a member of the General Synod's Committee on Worship and began his second term of service as a trustee of Erskine College and Erskine Theological Seminary. In 1999, Dr. Dagenhart led the Doraville Church through a process of relocation that resulted in a new church facility and name-Peachtree Corners Presbyterian Church, Norcross, Georgia. On August 16, 2001, Dr. Dagenhart received a call to be Minister of the First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Rock Hill, South Carolina and began work here in September 2001. His Installation Service was held on the evening of November 11, 2001. The Dagenharts have two children, Jamey, born in 1986 and Rachel, born in 1988. |
